26.4 Consider the whole world in your decisions and actions

As societies become ever more complex, our circle of trust, responsibility and interdependence has increased. As the world becomes ever more interconnected through technology and globalisation, whatever happens elsewhere in the world can very quickly affect us. Conflict on the other side of the world immediately affects our finances, economy, energy supplies, social cohesion, immigration and security. So, taking account of the interests of all of humanity and other living beings is not about being ‘nice,’ it is about acting in our own selfish interest.
