25.2 Treat animals with love and kindness, especially those we eat

Many, if not most, of the animals we eat are reared and killed in cruel circumstances. We must know where our food comes from. If we could see how the animals were kept and killed, our compassion would compel us to do the right thing. The animals we eat must be kept in decent conditions and have a reasonable quality of life. The process of slaughter must be as painless and distress free as possible. People who are wilfully cruel and sadistic to animals must be punished with no mercy.
