There is a tendency for bureaucrats, courts and policymakers to increase the number of laws and regulations. We do need rules, regulations, scrutiny, oversight, transparency, accountability and discipline. Restrictions on freedom should be kept to the absolute minimum necessary to protect the rights of others, the sovereignty and integrity of the people, democracy and the rule of law.
