There are many countries who participate in the illegal migration of people into the West. Some turn a blind eye, some profit from trafficking, some see it as a colonial strategy and others don’t have the resources or incentive to stop illegal migration through their country. Where there is a lack of resources, we should help those countries to maintain and police their own borders effectively. Where the problem is one of corruption, colonial ambition, complacency or lack of motivation, we should focus the minds of the elites in those countries by restricting their dealings with the West, including their right to travel there, until they start to manage their own borders properly.
